Dabton House launches a bespoke Whisky
We are delighted to announce the details of our very own bespoke single malt whisky, produced by our neighbours, Claxton’s, in a collaboration of distinction.
Local Luxury
When Dabton House opened in September last year (2023), just a few miles from the bonds at Claxton’s, it was dubbed as one the ‘most luxurious exclusive-use properties’ in the South of Scotland and so in creating our own whisky we aspired to create luxury moments to treasure in both body and spirit, or in this case, in a glass.
In the realm of fine spirits, there are few names as revered and distinguished as Claxton’s Whisky. Steeped in history and renowned for their dedication to their craft, Claxton’s Spirits has long been a hallmark of excellence in the world of whisky. For that reason, we chose them to embark on crafting a bespoke single malt whisky for the house, with tones to match our essence of understated luxury and refinement.
Limited Edition Whisky
With a focus on our shared locality and bringing alive the true spirit of the South of Scotland, Claxton’s produced 139 bottles of this special limited edition Dabton whisky.
We worked closely with Claxton’s Whisky Makers over the last year to curate all elements of the whisky. The 16 Years Old single malt has sweet warm tasting notes from the tawny port cask, reminiscent of fireside evenings at Dabton House.
The collaboration with Claxtons’ allowed us to be involved in every step of the process, from selecting the cask to designing the label. Our aim was to create a whisky that is accessible to both whisky enthusiasts and newcomers to the spirit.
A Luxurious Partnership
Our Operations Manager, Alasdair Knight, said: “We were committed from the outset to work with one of the countries finest producers, so when the opportunity arose to work with our close neighbours at Claxton’s to create our own limited-edition single malt product, we jumped at the chance. Creating our own whisky was the logical step, because of our shared location.’
Hearing from the Managing Director of Claxton’s: “We were so excited to be involved in this project. Claxton’s is quality-focused and the casks used at Dalswinton Bond are deliberately selected and sourced globally from specialist producers with as much care and attention as the spirit that fills them; and Dabton House on the Queensberry Estate with its rich Scottish history and heritage, is an icon of luxury hospitality, that we sincerely felt there was something special to be celebrated here.”
Bound together by geography, this limited release bottling represents all that we share: warm welcomes, lively gatherings, happy memories and special stories shared by the hearth, in the heart of Dumfriesshire.
Discover Luxury Whisky
Each 70cl bottle will be hand-numbered and is now available to purchase directly from us, locally from Stirk Brothers, a boutique whisky shop in Thornhill, or enjoyed by the glass, by the fire in the Drawing room here at Dabton House as part of our ‘Ultimate Luxury Whisky Experience’. We very much look forward to sharing this/our special whisky with you.
Did You Know?
Adding to the allure of this collaboration with Claxton’s is their creation of Formula 1 champion Jenson Button’s blended whisky ‘Coachbuilt’ launched in July 2023. A whisky enthusiast and connoisseur in his own right, Button’s interest in whisky began during his racing career, having been sponsored by Johnnie Walker – he wanted to create something special. Overall, Button’s partnership with Claxton’s has enabled him to pursue his passion for whisky and create a unique blend that reflects his personal style and preferences.
